Take The Lead

Just this afternoon I watched yet another great movie (with my fiance, of course!) entitled "take the lead" and it stars spanish actor Antonio Banderas. For many of you this film will definitely ring a familiar tone when you see the title.

It speaks of a high spirited and confident ballroom dancing instructor and mentor Pierre who has an established studio of his own. On the other side of the neighbourhood a troubled principal of a gangster prone school faces a dilemma of notorious kids being put in detention due to their bad behaviours everyday after school.

One night...

Mr. Pierre was minding his business when he noticed a student of the school bashing the principal's car with a gold club. When the student came to his senses Pierre had not been able to get more answers on why he did that. But he sensed the youths had a need.

The next day, he went to the principals office and said "I'd like to help"... and help it was getting down and dirty trying to teach these notorious kids (who listens to punk rock rap music) the polite and graceful ballroom dances.

You basically can imagine it from there.

What really inspired me was how Pierre handled the bunch of kids and how he encouraged them to go on despite all odds.

Here's the line that was the moment in the film...

"I know that you'll be competing with pro's in this competition (who have been dancing for years). But this is where we come in. They expect nothing from us, nothing. That's why we're going to SHOW UP and kick some a**"

We know that in a sea of internet baloney and opportunities out there plus all those super professional marketing strategies marketers achieve. But here's one thing that I can catch from the spoken word of Mr. Pierre - my interpretation :

"If you can master the fundamentals, you're going to suprise everyone in your own style someday"

That's a fact. Nothing plainer than the truth, my friend.
